Be unlike 98 percent of the game? Constantly looking for an extra edge, constantly looking for a way to outwork the competition  whether it's during the season or the off-season.

The game is getting faster, the off-season is your chance to catch up.

Before the season, GBK can increase your intensity and hand speed by joining our MMA Performance Athletics, a program started by Professor Ted, GBK staff and Coach Rey.

Training like an elite MMA fighter has helped Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packer Clay Matthews, Minnesota’s Jared Allen and San Francisco’s Patrick Willis, among others. Two entire NFL teams, Atlanta and San Francisco, also got in on the action. Note: These training classes will be limited in size and instructor intensive.

The benefits of the program applies to all football players: It will greatly strengthen and speed up your hand strikes, make you more explosive, more technical, and think more like elite MMA fighters.  It will also increase your knowledge of leverage, but more than anything else, it will push your breaking point way beyond the limits you thought you had.

Matthews had 13.5 sacks (fourth in the NFL), despite playing with an injured leg for much of the season, and is in contention for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Regarded as one of the best inside linebackers in the NFL, San Francisco 49ers and 2007 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Patrick Willis has known success since his college career at the University of Mississippi. The only player to receive the Butkus Award for best linebacker in more than one category, Willis has earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in all five years he has played in the NFL.

After seeing the results they had this season, they already have committed to more MMA Performance work next season. We’re just glad MMA was asked along for the ride.

Local football players gearing up for the OFF-SEASON with Gracie Barra Katy

GB Katy - Friday, October 28, 2011

With the end of the Football season approaching, many local Football players are looking for alternative training regiments to stay in shape during the off-season.

It is a well known fact that an increasing number of top shelf NFL athletes are turning to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) trainers around the nation to develop cutting edge skills to help them excell on the field.

Watch them in action:

Here’s what some of the pros are saying:

“We’re always looking for new and progressive ideas as far as training and offering our team supplements to the athletic performance model we have in place here,”

“This was something we were comfortable with as far as conditioning but even more importantly the idea of having MMA help the players with their leverage, hand quickness, and things that could help them within the trenches taking on blocks and battling inside.”

Falcons general manager - Thomas Dimitroff

<a href='' target='_new' title='MMAthletics: Marcedes at work' >Video: MMAthletics: Marcedes at work</a>

"The reason why I'm doing MMA is it's probably the closest thing you can find to football as far as conditioning, cardiovascular and the physical aspect,"

"I'm not fighting and getting hit. I'm just going to be training my behind off."

"I want to come back the way I left - in shape and focused"

Jets outside linebacker – Calvin Pace

“There’s a lot of carryover to what we do on the field. We do some Kickboxing (for core-muscle and hip development), wrestling, working on our hands and getting guys off you. We work on body leverage, too, which is important. Whoever is the lowest man controls the other man.

Atlanta Falcons middle linebacker - Curtis Lofton

“I'm learning so much about leverage and staying fluid,” he said. “I'm a lot more aware of what I can do in certain situations.”

“The thing I'm learning the most is how to use my hands,” he said. “I'm learning the kind of technique that will help me get guys off me.”

Houston Texans linebacker - Brian Cushing

As Katy’s premier Mixed Martial Arts training facility, Gracie Barra Katy has committed to putting a special focus on helping our local Elementary, Middle and High school football players push themselves to the next level during the off season.

The proof is evident!
